The Vision sets out a regeneration framework for the town, demonstrating how the town's environment will meet the highest 21st century aspirations of its people and businesses, making the Bridgwater of the future an even better and more exciting place in which to live, work and invest.
The Bridgwater Challenge Partnership must now make sure that the Vision is brought to fruition. It must champion the delivery of its design principles and environmental proposals for the town centre and local areas. And it must keep the transformation momentum going - building on the key projects now underway such as Building Schools for the Future, the Energy Skills Centre and the town's growing role as a regional distribution hub. It must also develop the skills base and infrastructure for new low carbon technologies some of which, like proposals for Hinkley Point, offer major long-term opportunities and challenges for the town and its people.
STRATEGIC PROJECTS
The Strategic Projects group consists of projects in the wider area around Bridgwater which have the potential to impact on and/or provide opportunities for the development of Bridgwater.
TRANSPORT PROJECTS
The Transport Projects group consists of projects with the potential to impact the transport network within the Bridgwater area. These projects are not limited to the road network but also consider provision for green transportation such as cycle paths and public transportation.
COMMUNITY SERVICES PROJECTS
The Community Services Projects group consists of projects with the potential to influence the community and community services in the Bridgwater area. These projects consider topics such as health services, emergency services and education.
CENTRAL BRIDGWATER PROJECTS
The Central Bridgwater Projects group consists of those projects within Bridgwater that have been identified by the Bridgwater Challenge and incorporated and discussed within the Bridgwater Vision documentation.
INDUSTRY AND COMMERCE PROJECTS
The Industry and Commerce Projects group consists of those projects within Bridgwater will have an impact on industry and commerce. These projects include site development and regeneration projects and mixed use projects.
HOUSING PROJECTS
The Housing Projects group consists of those projects focused on housing in the Bridgwater area.
