RISING TO THE CHALLENGE? THE PLANS ARE COMING!
Our original Home Page asked if anyone thought that Bridgwater needed a step-change. You said ‘Yes’ – very loudly. That’s on its way.
We asked about the struggling town centre, empty sites and buildings, the shortage of local jobs, the problems of deprived communities and the fact that so many people just shoot by in the M5 and never visit the town.
These were some of the things that local people agreed the Bridgwater Challenge should tackle – that’s why it was set up. The aim is to give the town a lift, put it on the map and give it back its rightful place as one of Somerset’s special market towns.
The first stage of the Challenge initiative is now over. Any day now, this website will introduce you to the exciting and wide-ranging Vision for Bridgwater.
That Vision includes things that can happen ‘now’*, in a few years, and over several years. (* On their way already are: 4 new schools, the new YMCA, changes at North East Bridgwater, the Energy Skills Centre at the College and more).
So you won’t have to wait too long to see the first steps of the step-change.
WHERE NOW?
§ Look at the Challenge page for all the reports that led up to the Vision.
§ Look at the Your Say page to see how local people have been involved.
§ Look, any day now, at the Vision pages to see extracts from the plans.
